The show takes place in the Guelaguetza Auditorium, located on the Cerro del Fortin. The auditorium holds 11,000 spectators. Festival de Primavera Rodolfo Morales (Spring Festival) – Celebrated since 1982, this festival forms part of the annual festivities that commemorate the founding of the city. The festival has such diverse activities as music, dance and literature. It takes place in the Teatro Macedonio Alcala, and in various plazas and gardens throughout the city. Teatro Macedonio Alcala – Located on Avenida Independencia, at 5 de Mayo, in the Historic Center. This is the most important venue in the city. The building is an eclectic design, blending artistic styles from the Renaissance period with those of France’s Louis XIV era.
