Oaxaca Mexico Weblog / » Capulálpam of Mendez is a new “Magic Town”Officially, the town of Capulálpam of Mendez, in the state of Oaxaca, was declared by the Department of Tourism (Sectur) as “Magic Town”. With this designation will receive resources to enhance its natural and cultural value, thereby promoting various activities in order to consolidate it as a tourism product level. ![]() The federal agency decided to include this town Oaxacan within its “Magic Town” because it is home to a wealth of art, in addition to collecting the characteristics necessary for the practice of ecotourism and adventure tourism. As part of the official declaration made the previous day, the owner of the unit, Rodolfo Elizondo Torres noted that the initial Sectur so devoted to the state 30 million pesos for the completion of tourism projects, coupled with the input state. On December 3, Capulálpam of Mendez was assessed by the Inter-Agency Committee Evaluation and Selection of Magical People, and 10 days later, the owner of the Sectur made the announcement of the formal incorporation of this town for the programme “Villages Magic.” Capulálpam of Mendez is located in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca, 70 kilometres from the state capital, and has great artistic and cultural wealth. It houses one of its main temple icons to Dominican of San Mateo, religious edification of the seventeenth century with 15 altarpieces and Baroque Churrigueresque. The “People’s Magical” intends to assemble circuits and tourist routes that allow the visitor to know the big cities, but also those who guard their locations alleys historic buildings, temples, monasteries, traditions and the magic of the Mexican people.
